Using Tollways
A ‘vehicle matching fee’ is a fee that is charged by a tollway when an image of your vehicle's license plate is taken (because no tag can be identified in the car). We refer to it as an image processing fee.
Fully electronic motorways provide faster, free flowing roads as there are no toll booths along the tollway where you stop to pay cash.
Gantries (a fixed overhead frame) are installed at toll collection points on fully electronic motorways. Tag sensors and cameras are mounted on these gantries to capture electronic tags and number plate details as vehicles pass.
Trips for vehicles with an electronic tag are billed to the motorist's tag account. If vehicles do not have a tag, the vehicle's number plate is checked to see if the vehicle has a tag, plate or a pass account.
Fully electronic tolling allows motorists to experience quicker travel times by avoiding toll booths. You simply drive along the tollway and pay for your toll with one of our easy payment methods.

But, if you don't have a tolling account, it's only $15 to get started with FLOW!

Aside from the toll payable for your trip on a tollway, there are two sorts of fees associated with electronic tolling – there are road fees and account fees.
The only Road Fee that will be charged to your account will be an image processing fee (this is charged when the image of your licence plate is taken and viewed). This fee can be avoided if you travel on a tollway with a tag.
Travelling on a tollway without a tag may attract fees, however using your FLOW account won’t. At FLOW we have no:
- Paper Statement fees
- Manual top-up fees
- Minimum usage fees
- Account opening fees
And it's only $15 to open a Tag or Plate Account, easy!

You can top-up your FLOW account manually (with no fees or charges!) on this website in the My Account section or by calling 13 13 57 and following the prompts.

Your Bill allows you to use the CLEM7 without pre-paying. You can use the tollway and then we will send you a bill within 7 days of your trip through the CLEM7, and up until 30 June 2010, you’ll only pay the toll.
A FLOW Plate account is best suited to motorcyclists planning to use the CLEM7 or any other tollway regularly.
No image processing fees are payable for motorcycles, meaning all you pay is the cost of the toll.
